Teaching That Transforms Conference

A note to Bible study leaders and teachers at FBCA and in the Washington DC metro area.

TEACHING THAT TRANSFORMS

Paul writes in his letter to the church in Rome, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2). Life-transformation is happening each week as members of the Body of Christ gather in your Bible Fellowship, Sunday School class, and Lifegroup to study God’s Word.

Are you seeing it?

Sure, there are times when big things happen and the mark of God’s hand in people’s lives is visible and apparent, but often God is changing us little by little, week in and week out as we allow the Word of God to renew our minds. What does Paul say the end product of this transformation is? The ability to test and discern the Will of God – to know the mind of God.

Mostly, we don’t see the transformation because we simply aren’t looking for it or we’ve stopped believing that our efforts teaching a weekly Bible study have the impact that scripture implies it ought. If that is you today then be encouraged. Your teaching can change lives! It’s transformational for at least two reasons:

  1. It is examining the Word of God. We do not merely handle ancient texts filled with transcendent and lofty ideas. This is the divinely revealed and eternal Word of God given for our benefit (2 Timothy 3:16).

  2. It can be done with excellence and proven teaching methods that result in learning. The Discipleship Office is intent on supporting you in every way possible as you grow in your teaching abilities!
